- What factors led to the beginning of the renaissance in northern Europe? Urban merchants became wealthy enough to sponsor artists, and people lived close together in towns, allowing for the spread of ideas.
- How did the invention of the printing press help spread learning and Renaissance ideas? It made it possible to produce books cheaper so that more people could afford them. This made reading more common and also spread new information.
- Albert Durer- Produced woodcuts and engravings, portrayed religious subjects, classical myths, realistic landscapes.
- Jan Van Eyck- used recently developed oil paints to develop techniques, realistic details, and personality of his subjects.

2. Which of the events listed in the readings relating to the Northern Renaissance do you think was most important? Explain.- I think the Gutenberg press because it could produce books much faster than a person could and it could replicate religious works which many people could afford and buy at low costs

3. How did Albrecht Dürer’s work reflect the influence of the Italian Renaissance?- Because he was the only artist who drew things as they really were and he drew living things. He was one of the only artists who drew animals such as his famous painting "young hare. 
4. What was one way the Renaissance changed society?- It's an art because artists started to draw and paint things and depict them as they really were, such as the Mona Lisa who was painted exactly how she looked and it is known that the eyes follow you.
5. Why was the invention of the printing press so important?- Printing changed society by making information inexpensive and available enough for society at large. Greater availability of books led to a greater quest for knowledge and literacy. Published maps and charts led to great discoveries in a variety of fields. People began to question political structures and religious practices.
